DevSwell is a personalized tech-stack digest product. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
What we collect
- Email address and password — your password is hashed with bcrypt before it's ever stored; we cannot see or recover your plaintext password.
- Your selected tech stack — the languages, frameworks, databases, and tools you choose to track.
- Account plan — free or paid tier.
- Support messages — if you contact us through the in-app Support form, we receive the message content and your account email.
We do not collect analytics, tracking cookies, or advertising identifiers.
How we use it
- To authenticate you (a session token stored in an HttpOnly cookie your browser sends automatically — JavaScript cannot read it).
- To filter release data down to your personalized digest.
- To email you when something changes in a technology you track, and for account-related emails (verification, account deletion confirmation).
Third parties we use
- MongoDB Atlas — hosts our database. Your account data is stored there.
- Resend — delivers our transactional emails (verification, digest, account deletion, support).
- GitHub's public API — the source of release data we track. No personal data is sent to GitHub as part of this.
- Hacker News' public API — the source of the general news feed. No personal data is sent to it.
- Simple Icons CDN — loads the brand icons shown on the Stack page. Only a public icon name is requested, no personal data.
- Stripe — planned for our paid tier's billing; not yet in use.
We do not sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
Email preferences
Every digest email includes an unsubscribe link that stops future stack-update emails without deleting your account. You can also toggle this from Settings at any time.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account from Settings. We send a confirmation link by email before anything is deleted, since this action is immediate and irreversible once confirmed — all of your data is removed from our database at that point.
Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent through the in-app Support form, or directly to platon.tikhnenko@gmail.com.
